EUFS Boosts CAD Workflow with Kenesto

Before discovering Kenesto, the Edinburgh University Formula Student team (EUFS) faced a growing challenge: managing an increasingly complex engineering workflow with tools that could not keep up.
With 160+ team members and thousands of CAD files, EUFS, one of the UK’s most advanced groups in electric and autonomous racing, found themselves struggling with slow, outdated tools that caused workflow conflicts and versioning issues.the team needed fast, secure and reliable control over thousands of evolving CAD files. Their previous solution, GrabCAD, offered basic cloud storage, but it lacked essential capabilities such as advanced versioning, lifecycle management and protection against simultaneous edits. As the team expanded, these limitations began slowing development and increasing the risk of overwritten work, conflicting updates and coordination gaps.

Kenesto gave EUFS exactly what their workflow was missing: secure and fast file sharing, real-time updates across devices and robust version control that preserves every iteration and prevents conflicts. Students can now collaborate confidently, knowing their work is always protected, clearly organized and accessible to everyone who needs it.

According to Pavlos Androutsellis Theotokis, the team’s Technical Director: “Kenesto has allowed us to enhance our workflows through simple and quick file sharing and management. Our team’s efficiency has improved thanks to the features that give us file security, instant updates on all users’ devices and prevention of simultaneous work on files.”

EUFS is one of the most advanced Formula Student groups in the UK, designing and building a fully electric and fully autonomous single-seater race car every year. The team aims to bridge academic study with real engineering practice, giving students hands-on experience in design, manufacturing, testing and validation.

In 2025, the team celebrated a remarkable milestone: winning the Formula Student AI competition for the eighth consecutive year. This achievement reflects both their technical excellence and the strength of the partnerships that support their work.

Today, Kenesto is deeply integrated into EUFS’s workflow. It has been passed down from one generation of students to the next and has become a natural part of how the team operates.

As EUFS continues pushing the boundaries of autonomous and electric racing, Kenesto remains a trusted foundation behind their success, supporting every design cycle, every iteration and every new generation of engineers. Together, we help turn ambitious ideas into world-class innovation.
