NITK Racing, an India’s Formula Student teams from National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, recently made a significant shift that transformed the way their 60+ members work they moved their entire engineering workflow to Kenesto. The impact was immediate. What was once a disconnected, chaotic process becoming an organized, reliable, and smoothly coordinated engineering operation. Today, the team describes Kenesto as “a core part of our engineering stack,” and the difference is evident in every stage of their work.
Before adopting Kenesto, the team faced a challenge familiar to many large engineering groups. With more than sixty students working across powertrain, battery systems, aerodynamics, chassis, electrical systems, embedded development, and operations, keeping track of design files was a daily struggle. CAD models, simulation outputs, wiring diagrams, DXF and STEP manufacturing files, and code were shared informally through WhatsApp or Google Drive. It didn’t take long for this to spiral into version mismatches, misplaced files, misalignment between subsystems, and unnecessary rework. The lack of a structured system was slowing the team down, and critical design decisions were often made without full visibility.
When the team discovered Kenesto, they decided to try a new approach. The platform immediately created order where there had been none. All design files and revisions were stored in one place, with clear version history and controlled access. Collaboration between subsystems became easier and more transparent. Designers, simulation engineers, and manufacturing coordinators could finally work from the same source of truth, eliminating errors and improving the accuracy of each stage in the development cycle. Instead of spending time searching for files or reconciling differences between outdated versions, the team could focus on the engineering work itself.
This shift had a real-world impact. With a more disciplined workflow and reliable data management, NITK Racing entered the 2025 SupraSAE India competition with renewed confidence – and finished in 4th place. Their success is the result of talent, effort, and innovation, but the right tools enabled them to work more effectively as a unified engineering team.
The experience of NITK Racing highlights an important truth: even the most capable engineers need the right infrastructure to support their work. Moving from scattered file-sharing habits to a structured, professional platform is more than a technical upgrade – it’s a shift that allows large teams to collaborate with clarity, precision, and speed. For NITK Racing, adopting Kenesto wasn’t just about organizing files. It was about elevating the entire engineering process and giving the team the environment they needed to excel.
