Another year, another launch season with the UCI Rocket Project – Solids Team.
This is a 39-member student team out of UC Irvine that designs, builds, and launches high-powered solid-propellant rockets from scratch. In June, their rocket Bright Fury hit an apogee of 10,695 feet and placed 7th in the IREC 10K SRAD category, with their Payload Team picking up an Honorable Mention on top of that.
Projects like this generate a huge amount of CAD data quickly, and keeping it organized across a 39-person team is its own engineering problem. The team used to manage everything through Google Drive before moving to Kenesto to work alongside SolidWorks.
Kendall Vandenburgh, the team’s Launch Vehicle Lead, put it simply: “Kenesto allows our team to easily communicate and share files that would otherwise be difficult due to the sheer number of files, helping our members collaborate more efficiently.”
We’re glad to be sponsoring this team again this year. Excited to see what Bright Fury’s successor looks like.
If your team is dealing with the same file chaos, happy to show you how Kenesto handles it. Just reach out.
